Does Yaki hair come from a yak?
The term "yaki” is an unfortunate word choice that carried connotations that probably weren’t considered when the term gained widespread use. Our hair is 100% human hair, always. No animal fiber, period. "Yaki” is a commonly understood term for a coarse texture made by a machine or net process, that "roughens” the hair, to give it texture that resembles coarse African American hair. The level of processing can be very light (”light yaki”), medium or coarse.
We’re not sure why some companies, or stylists, spread the misinformation that Yaki hair comes from a yak, nothing could be further from the truth. French lace doesn’t come from France (it’s made in Asia), and Swiss lace doesn’t come from Switzerland (Asia again), these are just terms that became common in the wig industry.
But to make things perfectly clear, we don’t sell animal hair, and be careful reading something and accepting it as complete truth.
